Nonprofit Application

TechShop Madison is a collaborative project of UW-Madison and local nonprofit technology assistance provider DANEnet in which students provide information technology assistance to nonprofit organizations. In fall 2009, TechShop projects will focus on “Web 2.0” technologies such as social networking, blogging, online photos and videos, podcasting and more. To view past projects, please click here.

This application is intended to gather the information necessary to attempt to match you with a student who has the knowledge base to meet your needs. We will do our best to find a student who can meet your needs, but we want to let you know that it may not be possible. We will inform you by mid-September whether or not we can match you with a student partner.

If possible, this form should be filled out by the person who will work most closely with the TechShop student. Please submit the form by Friday, August 28 in order to be considered.

Before proceeding, keep in mind that TechShop requires a 24 hour time commitment throughout the semester (mid-September to mid-December), which includes:

  • Required attendance at 1.5 hour orientation session on September 18 (time TBD)

  • One on one meetings/educational sessions* with your student partner (generally occur weekly)

  • Required attendance at in-person check-in on the morning of October 9 (2 hrs, exact time TBD)

  • Phone and/or web-based check-ins with TechShop staff once per month to discuss how the project is going

  • Required attendance at 2-hour project presentation and evaluation meeting on December 4 (time TBD)

*The TechShop philosophy is not to provide products to its nonprofit partners, but to increase the capacity of the organizations that we partner with through education. While there may be new products created during the partnership, the end of the semester goal is to make sure that the nonprofit partner has the skills to manage their own technology.

Thank you for your interest! Please contact us if you have any questions.
