Riders of Vermont
The RoVer Rally Song
Roger Allen Hussey
13dec02
1.Here we come,
there we go 5. Ride
to work, ride to play
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
Riding fast, riding slow
We all ride,
and we say
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
Stranded here at home?
I’m a driving fool
Call a ride up on the phone
When my kids stay late at school
2.Young and old, we are Ro-Ver
6. Up and down, farm and town
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
Summer’s hot, winter’s colder
Riding safe, riding sure
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
It’s too dark for me to drive?
Waiting with my thumb
Stuck inside without my ride
For a safer ride to come
3.To and fro, way to go
7. Here we ride, here we stand
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
Near and far, here we are
Make it fair, as we planned
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
Mobile in my chair
RoVer plays a part
Need a ride to get me there
When your second car won’t start
4.Make or break, we’ve a stake
8. Single moms, and our kiddies
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
Jeezum crow, don’t you know
Live on farms, live in cities
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
We’re the Riders of Ver-mont!
Work’s a ten-mile hike
Daycare needs a ride
It’s too long to use my bike
With our children safe inside
Basic Mobilty -- What Is It?
Our RoVer mission statement
says we advocate for
the basic mobility we all need
to get to work,
live independently and
contribute to our communities
So what exactly is Basic Mobility? Maybe it will help to look at it
from several angles.
For instance, Basic Mobility is like air -- you really notice it when you do
NOT have it. When you can't get to work, to visit friends, to get groceries,
to vote -- then what you don't have is Basic Mobility.
Or let's just listen to the Basic Mobility Song, to the tune of "My Country
T'is of Thee".
Basic Mobility's what makes Vermonters free to come and
go.
Get to our livelihood, work in our neighborhood.
It's time we understood what makes us free.
What crime did we commit that we so often sit jailed in
our homes?
We want our lives to be lived independently.
Basic mobility will set us free.
In other words, we're not talking about fancy mobility, like
jetting off to Paris or a cruise in the Caribbean -- no, we're talking
basics here. As in basic needs, basic rights, basic dignity. Basic
mobility.
Forever Gloucester

Tune of “Yankee Doodle” in G
1.
Sixteen Hundred twenty-three,
We came up for the fish-ing.
Work that’s always up and dow-n
Just
like Red Sox pitching
Refrain
Glo’ster, you’re
the town for us,
We’re all in this together.
Port and town, heart and home,
We’ll keep you strong forever.
2.
Fish and quarry, ocean trading,
Visitors’ new faces –
Here we’ve labored with our neighbors
Come from many places.
3.
In
the challenges ahead
Together we’ll stand stro-ong.
Till
our kids see what we did
And proudly sing this song.
4.
Glo’ster mugs are up today
For our inauguration.
Let’s keep our city strong and fair
As any in the nation.
