About the Rural Alliance for Service Learning

The Rural Alliance for Service Learning came together in 2009 around a mutual interest in service-learning in rural areas. We are an informal group who care about the practice of rural service learning and believe that rural service learning holds lessons for service learning generally.

In 2010 we received a grant to gather stories about rural service-learning and have expanded that into a book project.

See the original grant proposal for that project.

See the actual award.

RASL has had four gatherings, in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013.  We were fortunate during those years to have financial support that defrayed some of the costs.  We continue to look for funding for another future gathering.

RASL Activities

RASL just finished organizing an anthology on rural service learning, currently under review.

In the past, RASL has organized gatherings of rural service learning practitioners and is hoping to do so again.

RASL Membership

RASL is not currently a formal membership organization.  If you would like to get on our e-mail list (we only use it to announce major stuff), please see the contact page.
