Has Met Council on Housing Helped You?
Can You Share Your
Success Story with Us?
Every year, 8,000 individual tenants are assisted on Met Council on
Housing's telephone
hotline or at our walk-in clinic. Are you one of those people?
Over the past 50 years, Met Council on Housing members and staff have
helped to
organize thousands of tenants' associations. Did Met Council play a key
role in
your building's struggle?
Please share your story - whether it was decades ago or in the past few
months.
We're soliciting success stories from members and others who have been
helped in
their struggle for decent, affordable housing - whether by organizing,
at our clinic,
or on our hotline. Also, please share your stories of your involvement
in our campaigns
and struggles for affordable housing rights!

In a blow to as many as 16,000 formerly homeless people, a state judge
ruled on
September 13 that the Bloomberg administration has the legal right to
end a rent
subsidy program after state and federal budget cuts left the city as
its lone funder.
Housing bust; busted housing

A revolving door of owners intent on making a quick killing are
overpaying, underinvesting, and condemning hundreds of properties to a
pattern of
neglect, disrepair, and foreclosure. At least 80,000 units in New York
City are
in jeopardy.
Deal would settle tenants' harassment suit

A settlement deal been has been reached in a class-action lawsuit
against Pinnacle
Group, a notorious predatory-equity landlord
alleged to have engaged in a systemic pattern of harassment, unlawful
rent increases,
and aggressive eviction attempts. The $2.5 million settlement - which
can be used
to assist current and former tenants in pursuing claims for damages - is
controversial,
with some affected tenants disappointed that the deal wasn't stronger.
