Hi Comm-org, Here are links to two articles in the NYT - one from 2/14 about
the connection between Egyptian youth (April 6th Youth Movement) and Tunisia
their organizing and the second one mainly about Gene Sharp whose book about
nonviolence, From Dictatorship to Democracy, has been studied in the middle
east and elsewhere.

In 2009, I advised a Northwestern U. Egyptian student, Radwa Manssy, as she
wrote her master's thesis on the obstacles in using grassroots, public
participation strategies for school reform in Egypt. She wanted me to be her
advisor after she took my course on community organizing/citizen
participation. She did a great job. She's now back in Egypt and you can
imagine the horrors she's living through. She basically sent me an SOS via
Facebook. I'm trying to call attention to her work and her story.
This doesn't quite answer your question about the protests today, but it
gives a context.
I attach her thesis if you're interested. Let me know what you think.
