[COMM-ORG] delay in COMM-ORG messages

Discussion list for COMM-ORG colist at comm-org.wisc.edu

  Hi COMM-ORG,

As you may know, I manage this list in my spare time. This week my
spare "off-work" time has immersed me in the organizing around the State
of Wisconsin budget. So messages are delayed. You may want to follow
the action, as it has many profound implications for organizing. The
capitol has been occupied by hundreds (last night perhaps thousands) of
protesters since early Tuesday. The call has gone out to 98,000
teachers to come to the capitol today, and 12 school districts have
already canceled classes. The university teaching assistant association
and other student groups are "teaching-out" today.

Because the university also supports only some forms of faculty and
student civic engagement, and apparently prevents the use of university
resources for anything other than completely apolitical civic engagement
(if there is such a thing), I must also tell you that this message
should in no way be read as an endorsement of any policy position or
policy action, but only as an informational item relevant to the list's
focus on community organizing.
