Celebrate International Women's Day 2009 with A POWERFUL NOISE Live
CARE invites you to attend our premier event celebrating International
Women’s Day, featuring the acclaimed documentary, A Powerful Noise
Thursday March 5th, 2009. CARE, a leading humanitarian organization who
places special focus on working alongside poor20women and addressing the
root causes of poverty, is hosting this unprecedented event to celebrate
International Women’s Day 2009. This one-night event by Executive
Producer Sheila Johnson will feature the acclaimed documentary A
Powerful Noise, followed by a town hall discussion broadcast live from
New York City featuring: former Secretary of State Madeline K. Albright,
CARE Advocate Christy Turlington Burns, CARE President and CEO Dr.
Helene Gayle, Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist Nicholas
D. Kristof and actress and activist Natalie Portman.
A Powerful Noise takes you inside the lives of three extraordinary women
overcoming deep-seated gender barriers to rise up and make their voices
heard. The women featured in the documentary are creating unprecedented
change in their communities in Vietnam, Mali and Bosnia. The film is
witness to their daily challenges and their significant victories over
poverty and oppression. The stories are personal, yet they illustrate
larger issues affecting millions of marginalized women worldwide.
The leaders and members of organizations across the country are planning
to attend the event, and local groups or chapters can make it their own
International Women's Day progra m. Simply visit
http://www.apowerfulnoise.org/guides.html to download a step-by-step
planning guide for how local interested groups can participate in this
exciting event.
A Powerful Noise is more than a documentary, it is a forum to unite,
network and mobilize for meaningful global change. It is an event to
honor International Women’s Day as well as the women who have fought-
and continue to fight for equality.
A Powerful Noise is being screened in 442 theaters around the country.
Please go to www.apowerfulnoise.org to find a theater near you and to
reserve your seats.
Please forward to friends and post on sites or lists who would be
