We have an opening for a policy analyst with political
consciousness, a
commitment to school reform, and strong writing skills. Here is the
announcement:
JOB POSTING: POLICY ANALYST
The National Center for Schools and Communities at Fordham
University has
an opening for a full-time policy analyst to help further our mission
of
providing high quality quantitative and qualitative policy analyses to
parent- and community-led efforts to close the achievement gap
between low-
income children and children of color in our public schools and
other students.
Candidates should have the following skills and qualifications:
A Master's degree in policy analysis, library science with a
concentration
in research or reference, educational research, social work with a
concentration in research, community or social psychology,
sociology,
political science, or other relevant social science.
One to three years applicable experience as an analyst or
researcher in
settings emphasizing applied or advocacy-related research.
Strong library and Internet research skills.
Excellent writing and editorial skills, including the ability to
synthesize
and translate complex information into terms and formats that are
readily
accessible to the general public.
Strong Excel, database, and file management experience. SPSS a
plus.
Comfort, empathy, and facility in dealing across cultural and class
lines
in person and by phone. Conversational ability in a language other
than
English a plus.
Ability to function well both in a team and in situations requiring a
high
level of autonomy.
An outcome focused work style, initiative, multi-tasking capacity,
and good
social skills.
A commitment to social change and, specifically, to public school
systems
that provide high quality education for all children regardless of
race,
economic circumstance, or family situation.
The National Center for Schools and Communities is a joint project
of the
Graduate Schools of Education and Social Service.
This position and the Center are grant funded. This opening is not
a
faculty line. Salary range: $40-50,000 plus outstanding benefits.
