query. A bit from me below.]

From: Adrienne L. Falcon <afalcon at carleton.edu>

Greetings all,

We are working on developing a local data portal here at Carleton
College to support students, faculty and community members interested in
working primarily with existing data (and potentially in the future to
add data gathered through shared research projects). We have been
looking for other models out there and have found them at the city and
state level, but not at the local county or city level connected with a
college or other civic engagement program.

Do you know of any? Have you participated in the creation of a local
data portal/hub?

Thanks in advance for any ideas,

Adrienne

[ed: there are a number of "indicators" efforts out there that do parts
of what Adrienne is talking about. Some of them are sponsored by
university shops and a couple have had some higher ed community
engagement dimensions. My favorites are the members of the National
Neighborhood Indicators Partnership at http://www2.urban.org/nnip/. I
did some writing about these things a couple of years ago--Stoecker,
Randy. 2006. "Neighborhood Data Systems: A Foundation for Resident
Participation." Community Development, 37:109-122. ]
