SAJE Seeking an Executive Director

SAJE (Strategic Actions for a Just Economy) was established
in 1996 with a mission to change public and corporate policy in a
manner that provides concrete economic benefit to working-class
people, increases the economic rights of working class people, and
builds leadership through a movement for economic justice. For the
past twelve years this mission has been expressed through a winning
combination of community organizing, community-wide coalitions
and partnerships, leadership development, and grassroots policy that
has gained significant benefits for low-income families. Based and
focused on the Figueroa Corridor area of South Los Angeles, SAJE has
a successful track record of creating a comprehensive grassroots
community economic development strategy, being instrumental in the
City Attorney’s largest conviction of slumlords, and building
coalitions and campaigns to block displacement of working class
people of color in the gentrified development of inner city
neighborhoods.

Executive Position

SAJE is seeking an Executive Director who will lead the
organization into the future. The Executive Director is responsible for
implementing the economic justice mission of SAJE, providing
leadership and vision to the organization, and developing an
organization that is financially, administratively, and politically
sustainable. The Executive Director must possess strong leadership,
fundraising, finance and organizational skills to sustain and manage a
budget of about $1 million, and direct an eight member staff. Strong
facilitation skills and Spanish language is highly desirable. The
position is accountable to the Board of Directors, and serves under its
direction.
