Hi COMM-ORG,
I want to provide a little information to everyone on changes you will
see to COMM-ORG in the coming months. The first change starts with the
list serve. I am adding a prefix to the subject to make it easier for
you to identify and filter COMM-ORG messages. So you should, with this
message, start seeing "[COMM-ORG]" in the subject line. This should not
impact your current filters; it will just make it easier for anyone who
wants to use a more convenient filter.
Also, I am hoping to shift the entire website to a content management
system. That will allow for things like online forums, wiki-type
projects, and news items. It will also change some of the COMM-ORG web
addresses but not, initially, for the papers and syllabi, which I will
keep at least for the moment as stand-alone web files. As I move toward
this, if you have things you are interested in from the website, please
let me know.
Finally, I am hoping that there will soon for an upgrade for the list
management software that will allow users to make more choices about the
kind of list messages they receive. Right now, for security and
bandwidth, everything defaults to plain text. Every time I ask the list
about their preferences for plain text versus formatted messages, there
is overwhelming support to keep the list that way, but I would also like
to accommodate those who like formatted messages.
Thanks, as always, for everyone's contributions to this project over the
years.
