Metro Justice seeks a full-time organizer to coordinate canvassing,
recruit and assist with local and statewide campaigns. Creativity,
multi-tasking and commitment to social justice required. Ability to
communicate with different ages, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds a
must. Competitive benefits, friendly office, rewarding work.
The organizer will:
* Canvass and coordinate canvassing in selected communities on local
and statewide issues
* Recruit members by meeting individually with prospects and by
canvassing for new members
* Assist in arranging workshops and other training for leadership
development
* Assist volunteers in planning campaign strategies and tactics
* Engage in public outreach to support voter mobilization project
* Participate in local and statewide coalition-building
* Plan and implement large mobilizations and media events
* Prepare meeting summaries and written/oral reports to council
* Prepare press releases
The organizer should have the following experience or skills, and
attributes:
* Ability to communicate with varying ages, ethnicities and
socioeconomic backgrounds
* Experience in coalition-building
* Experience in recruiting and organizing people to work on projects
* Creativity, innovation, mature thinking and reasoning skills
* Public speaking skills
* Basic computer skills
* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work as part of a team
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience fundraising and training desired but not required
* Strong commitment to social and racial justice
* Relevant formal education will be considered but is not required
