Affordable Housing Organizer Wanted



The Long Island Progressive Coalition (LIPC)

is searching for a community organizer focusing their efforts

on affordable Housing



The LIPC is the regional affiliate of Citizen Action of New York.

The LIPC is a 29-year old grassroots community organization working on a

multitude of social justice community issues.



Job Responsibilities

The Community Organizer’s primary responsibilities include doing the 
following activities:



· Identifying and building relationships with local leaders;

· Working with the faith based community

· Political organizing to build organizational power, this will entail 
working on local political campaigns;

· Developing local activists and leaders as leaders of the LIPC;

· Recruiting organizational and individual memberships in LIPC;

· Organizing actions, mobilizations, media coverage and other activities;

· Strategizing and leading community organizing campaigns.





Qualifications

Experience in community organizing (volunteer and paid experience)

Creative approach to problem-solving, including analytic, strategic and 
planning skills.

Ability to travel, including having a reliable car.

Ability to work evenings and weekends; and

Effectivepublic speaking skills.
