Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum of two years experience working in education environment,
preferably in a higher education setting.
Experience working with supporting governing boards and/or community
funding organizations;
facilitating and teaching conflict management strategies; working with
issues related to budget management.
Principal duties:
Develop SSFC members' and GSSF organizations' skills in and
understanding of the topics below through individual advising,
formalized trainings including training student trainers, training
manuals, group discussions, role-modeling, etc:
Viewpoint neutrality;
Diversity awareness;
Assertive communication skills/conflict management;
University policies;
Appropriate purview of SSFC;
Ethical decision-making;
Financial management and accountability;
Reading budgets and financial reports;
Organizational development;
Team building, conflict management, stress management;
Running effective meetings; and
Parliamentary procedures.
Provide consultation to SSFC leadership and committee members regarding:
Meeting preparation and management;
Record retention systems;
Process improvement;
Improvement of communication and information to applicant organizations;
Constructive and effective training and education for membership;
Advise leadership in the development of establishing media relations
with campus news entities;
Develop media and marketing strategy to further publicize SSFC-funded
services; and/or
Work with students to develop a leadership curriculum appropriate to the
needs and responsibilities of SSFC.
Other duties:
Become familiar with University policies and procedures;
Have knowledge of ASM governance and ability to maintain a non-partisan
role;
Assist committee and organizations funded by segregated fees in the
formation, implementation and assessment of semester and yearly goals;
Maintain training and information resources/manuals to support the
committee's work;
Plan and participate in on-going student development training programs
as needed;
Serve as a consultant to student organizations requesting support from
SSFC to provide written training opportunities, individual/group
consultations, etc;
Maintain involvement in professional pursuits that better qualify
him/her to perform more effectively; and/or
Foster positive relationships and work collaboratively with students and
other University staff who work closely with student organizations and
student leaders funded by SSFC.
Participate in Student Government Staff meetings and Office of the dean
of Students Divisional activities.
Meet regularly as a team with supervisor, SSFC Financial Specialist, and
ODOS Budget Director.
Willingness to adjust personal schedules to meet the needs of ASM for
attendance at meetings or other events at times more convenient for
students. Employee will work a flexible work schedule to accommodate for
evening and weekend commitments.

student leadership, ASM advising and program staff, staff in the central
administration of the Offices of the Dean of Students, and the

Background:
This position advises a 15 member student fees allocations committee
that supports over 25 student organizations and programs that provide a
diverse array of services to students. Student Services Finance
Committee (SSFC) allocates approximately $6 million in student fees. The
committee has a complex structure that follows State, University, and
Student Government funding guidelines and, fiscal policies and
procedures. SSFC members are elected (6), appointed (5), Student
Government Council members (5), and ASM Finance Chair. Terms are
currently limited to one year except for 6 elected members who serve
staggered 2-year terms. This position works closely with SSFC and ASM
leadership on a daily basis to provide needed consultation and advising
to ensure the integrity of the eligibility and allocations process.
Qualified applicants should possess:
Familiarity with and knowledge of student development theory and student
services;
Must possess self-direction and initiative;
Demonstrated commitment to role of student government and shared
governance processes;
Familiarity with non-profit and/or public university funding and
accounting systems;
Ability to work with students, student organizations and staff of
diverse backgrounds, interests and abilities in an atmosphere of mutual
respect;
Excellent communication skills required;
Commitment to effective group processes and quality improvement;
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-profile work
environment with a substantial level of ambiguity;
Employee will work a flexible work schedule to accommodate for evening
and weekend commitments.
