Community Organizing and Campaign Coordinator



The Progressive Jewish Alliance (PJA), a dynamic and growing statewide 
organization dedicated to engaging Jews in major campaigns for social 
justice, seeks a Community Organizing and Campaign Coordinator for its 
Los Angeles office.



The Community Organizing and Campaign Coordinator, supervised by the 
Regional Director, will work closely with PJA staff, membership and 
Southern California Regional Council members to further PJA’s community 
organizing, education, and coalition work. The Community Organizing and 
Campaign Coordinator will be responsible for planning and administering 
a number of PJA’s campaigns and events, as well as some membership 
outreach and communication.



Chief responsibilities include:



* Working with PJA’s Economic Justice Working Group to lead PJA’s local 
economic justice and low-wage worker campaigns.
* Coordinating PJA’s “Kosher Consumerism” education, advocacy, and 
organizing work, including our “Kosher Clothing” anti-sweatshop work and 
“Just Journeys” hotel workers campaign.
* Organizing PJA’s ongoing presence in the coalitions for comprehensive 
immigration reform.
* Assisting with and implementing other PJA campaigns and programs, 
including our work on criminal justice and civil liberties.
* Supervising an organizing intern, when applicable.
* Recruiting and engaging PJA members through community events, email 
alerts, and website maintenance.





Qualifications: We seek an energetic, organized and creative 
self-starter with a passion for, and understanding of, Jewish social 
justice work. Applicants must have experience administering projects, 
community organizing, and policy work. We seek individuals dedicated to 
PJA’s vision and who have a commitment to, and familiarity with, the 
American Jewish community, including an understanding of community norms 
and lightening-rod issues. Applicants must have excellent interpersonal, 
writing and communication skills and comfort with public speaking. 
Applicants must have a strong teamwork ethic and ability to multi-task. 
Bachelor’s degree required. Salary DOE. Benefits include full health,
