The Association for the Study and Development of Community (ASDC) is
looking for a full-time Senior Managing Associate to lead research and
evaluation projects, and provide technical assistance to public agency
and nonprofit representatives, community leaders, and evaluators. We are
looking for an individual to join us in taking the professional practice
of social change through science and capacity building to a higher
level. We promote teamwork, excellence in our work, and the professional
development of all of our community members.
Candidates should be knowledgeable and well experienced in one or a
combination of the following subject areas: 1) large systems and
community change to promote healthy communities and prevent social
problems such as crime, violence, HIV, and substance abuse; 2) community
organization and development; 3) promoting equality in health.
Candidates that will be considered must be committed to scientific
rigor, progressive social change, community capacity building, and the
highest professional standards in their work. They must also possess
strong verbal and written communications as well as proficient
management skills. The successful candidate will have a combination of
quantitative and qualitative research skills; ability to produce
scientific and technical products that are of high quality and useful;
and ability to conduct the work in a timely manner and within budget.
The successful candidate must have:
* Minimum of five years prior experience (preferably 10 or more)in the
implementation of research on or evaluation of community-based or
systems changes projects; 
* Doctoral degree (preferred) in community psychology, another social
science, or a related field (e.g. public health, urban planning, etc.); 
* Publication of scholarly, scientific, or professional works in
preferably peer reviewed journals or books on the topic areas previously
mentioned (e.g.
community change, prevention, promoting equality in health, etc.); 
* Successful experience writing proposals that were funded, success
proposing and managing federal contracts and grants will be especially
valued; 
* Prior task management and staff supervisory experience and requisite
skills; 
* Successful past experience conducting research or evaluation cross
culturally; 
* Demonstrated proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research
skills including data collection and management; 
* Analysis skills including the use of computer analysis tools (e.g.
SPSS, Atlas, or GIS); 
* Demonstrated ability to write, produce reports and present information
for scientific, practice, and public audiences. Should be able to write
clearly and concisely under time pressure. This is a major activity of
this position; and, 
* Ability to travel.
