Two great organizing jobs in Virginia:

1.    Community Organizer in Petersburg, VA and
2.    Organizer/Administrator in Charlottesville, VA

 

Highlights of the positions:

1. The Legal Aid Justice Center's JustChildren program seeks a full-time 
community organizer in Petersburg, Virginia.  Responsibilities for this 
position include working closely with a group of grassroots children's 
advocates to identify issues, expand membership, and conduct campaigns 
to improve educational opportunities for children in Petersburg.  Future 
responsibilities may involve expanding these efforts to include other 
community issues affecting Petersburg's low-income residents.

2. The Charlottesville (Virginia) Public Housing Association of 
Residents (PHAR) seeks a full-time Coordinator.  PHAR is an effective, 
nationally-known public housing organizing group.  Charlottesville is a 
dynamic small city, with a very progressive, diverse population, located 
less than 3 hours south of Washington, D.C. and 1+ hour from Richmond. 
The Coordinator is the primary PHAR staff person, oversees two part-time 
staff, works closely with the Board of Directors to develop strategies 
and run organizing campaigns.  To apply, submit cover letter and a
