> and refugee community‐based organizations, was
> formed in response to the disastrous effects of the
> 1996 Welfare and Immigration Reform Laws on low
> income families. African, Asian and Latino leaders
> formed CAAAELII in order to strategize, conduct
> joint activities, and share resources to combat the
> discriminatory effects of anti‐immigrant
> legislation. CAAAELII's mission is to strengthen
> diverse voices of inter‐generational immigrant
> and refugee communities by building alliances
> through a transformative process to develop
> grassroots power that impacts public policy.

> Responsibilities:
> The Executive Director is responsible for the
> overall management of activities, goals and
> strategic plan for CAAAELII and its mission. The
> Executive Director will oversee a staff of 15
> full‐time and part‐time employees and be
> accountable to moving the organization towards
> realizing the vision of CAAAELII by working closely
> with board and council members. Specific
> responsibilities will include the following:
>
> 1. Coalition Building/Relations
> • Work closely with 22 Council members to develop
> grassroots leadership and a progressive movement
> among immigrant communities to make a positive
> impact on public policies
> • Hold and plan quarterly Council meetings in
> collaboration with Board Vice Presidents
> • Meet with Council members and organizations on a
> regular basis to identify key community issues and
> problems that can be addressed effectively by timely
> collaborative efforts.
> • Ensure strategic direction of CAAAELII is
> developed with Council members and supports the
> organization's vision
> • Develop and nurture CAAAELII alliances and
> coalitions to advance immigrant and human rights
>
> 2. Personnel Management
> • Ensure sound implementation of the Board approved
> personnel policy
> • Hire and release all staff members
> • Provide direct supervision and support to senior
> and administrative staff
> • Ensure staff has adequate resources, trainings and
> support to carry out work
>
> 3. Programs
> • Oversee and assist staff to carry out CAAAELII
> programs to advance the organization's mission
> • Ensure annual work plan is developed, monitored,
> and modified appropriately
> • Ensure adequate resources for implementation
> strategies
> • Oversee and conduct evaluation and outcome
> measurements for all programs
>
> 4. Board Development
> • Work closely with the Board to develop and monitor
> organizational policies and practices
> • Inform the Board about financial status and legal
> matters related to CAAAELII
> • Staff and prepare quarterly board meetings in
> collaboration with Board President
> • Provide staff support for Board committees
> • Provide support for Board directors on board
> development and recruitment
>
> 5. Fundraising
> • Oversee all aspects of organization fundraising
> activities and strategies
> • Cultivate and develop relationships with
> individual donors
> • Ensure development and implementation of annual
> fundraising plan
> • Cultivate and establish on‐going
> relationships with CAAAELII's funders
>
> 6. Finance
> • Ensure sound fiscal management of the organization
> • Manage and monitor board approved budgets
> • Monitor expenses, cash flow and financial
> statements regularly
> • Prepare financial reports for Board review on a
> regular basis
> • Ensure financial and fiduciary protocol are
> followed and maintained
> • Ensure audit is prepared yearly

> 7. Public Relations
> • Represent CAAAELII at all public events that
> advance immigrant and refugee communities
> • Speak at press conferences, events and additional
> programs related to CAAAELII and its members as
> needed
> • Engage ethnic and main stream media regularly with
> press releases and phone calls
>
> Qualifications:
> Track record of success with 5+ years experience in
> non‐profit sector with emphasis and experience
> in fundraising, non‐profit management,
> coalition building and communication
>
> Commitment to progressive values of advancing human
> rights for immigrant and refugees as well as other
> disenfranchised communities such as
> low‐income, people of color, women, LGBT and
> people with
> disabilities
>
> Working knowledge of public policies and social,
> economic & political climates impacting immigrant
> and refugee communities, locally, nationally and
> globally
>
> Comprehensive understanding of and/or interest in
> the fields of civic/community engagement, coalition
> building and community organizing
>
> Demonstrated success at organizing and carrying out
> fund‐raising strategies and plans
>
> Demonstrated success at developing effective
> strategies and implementing to meet the goals
>
> Excellent written and verbal communications skills
>
> Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to
> provide dynamic leadership to staff, board and
> coalition members
>
> Previous experience as an Executive Director
>
> B.A. degree or equivalent life experience
>
> Fluency in 2+ languages preferred
>
