The First Annual One-Day Workshop
Beyond Social Service: Collective Action for Community Change

  From 9am-3pm on October 6, 2007, over one hundred and fifty Milwaukee
residents will come together at Our Savior's Lutheran Church (3022 West
Wisconsin Avenue) to learn how to fight for social change.  This
workshop will teach community organizing skills and introduce
participants to groups currently working to foster collective power in
our city.

Sponsors include: Citizen Action of Milwaukee, MICAH (Milwaukee
Innercity Congregations Allied for Hope), Wisconsin Apprentice
Organizers Project, Urban Underground, Wisconsin League of Conservation
Voters Institute, SEIU, ACORN, and UWM's Dept. of Educational Policy and
Community Studies.
