**PAVING NEW ROADS - COMMUNITIES ENGAGED IN RESISTING VIOLENCE*

We are happy to invite you to an exciting event taking place on December 1!

PAVING NEW ROADS: Communities Engaged in Resisting Violence -- An
opportunity to hear about new initiatives to resist violence and to gain new
hands-on skills and tools to bring back to your community to work to end
violence against women and girls.

PAVING NEW ROADS seeks to
 -- spur new local initiatives aimed at ending violence against women,
girls, and youth
 -- provide new ideas and energy to groups that are engaging in this work
 -- share hands-on skills and tools for community-based initiatives
 -- provide opportunities for collaboration and networking

PAVING NEW ROADS will feature innovative, creative, and grassroots
initiatives developed in Chicago communities who will share their concrete
ideas, tools and strategies.  Here are just a few of the workshops you can
attend:
-- Performance as a Means of Activism & Resistance (Aqua Moon)
-- Media Justice & How to Deconstruct the Media (Females United for 
Action)
-- Using Platica and Storytelling around Issues of Violence and Reproductive
Justice (LORE)
-- How to Develop a Youth-led Project (Rogers Park Young Women's Action
Team)
-- Creating Alternative Responses to Violence against Girls & Women 
of Color
in the Sex Trade & Street Economies (Young Women's Empowerment Project)

AND Women and Girls Collective Active Network will release our new report
featuring these initiatives that will include lots of ideas to help you in
your own work.  The event will include opportunities to network and learn
from one another.

Paving New Roads will take place at DePaul University's Lincoln Park campus
on Saturday, December 1, from 11:30 - 4 p.m.  The event is free of charge!
