Change to Win is a coalition of seven labor unions and six million
workers devoted to building a progressive movement among working people.
We are uniting workers in industries such as hospitality, construction,
retail, food processing, healthcare, and trucking and transportation
among others, and are committed to bringing the American Dream to all
working people.
We seek Community Political Organizers to support strategic organizing
campaigns in many locations across the country.
The Community-Political Organizer is responsible for building political
and community support for labor campaigns; assisting in worker
organizing; acting in a leadership role with respect to staff; and
designing and implementing strategic plans to mobilize members,
community and others in support of organizing activities.
Responsibilities include:
Coordinate community and political outreach and mobilization;
Build community, political, religious support for organizing projects
and issue campaigns;
Develop functioning and lasting coalitions with supporters and allies;
Assist in planning campaign strategies and tactics; plan and execute
large-scale mobilizations including demonstrations, pickets and media
events;
Design and implement staff and member training.
Qualifications:
Knowledge and proven success at planning and implementing strategic
community support campaigns in pursuit of union organizing goals.
Previous success working with immigrant rights, labor, or other social
justice organizations.
Communicate effectively in one-on-one and group settings, both verbally
and in writing; proven presentation skills.
Ability to analyze key and timely community issues, and sensitive
political situations.
Ability to work independently to plan and carry out goals and timetables
while maintaining a close relationship with Union leadership.
Ability to demonstrate high level of proven leadership and judgment.
Spanish language ability preferred.
Knowledge of targeted region/proven contacts in region.
