I am very pleased to announce the next COMM-ORG 2007 paper:

Six Reasons Not to Engage: Compromise, Confrontation and the Commons

by James Whelan

With all the talk out there about community consultation, town hall 
meeting strategies, and community participation, along with what seems 
to be an increasing distaste for confrontational community organizing, 
James offers an intriguing counter-argument.  This paper, from an 
Australian perspective, questions whether the official community 
participation processes being used today are as effective as old school 
community organizing.
