The Grassroots Global Justice Alliance (GGJA) is seeking a Political
Coordinator. GGJA was founded in 2002 and became a national alliance in
2005. Currently there are 60 member organizations. In our short history,
the alliance has become an significant vehicle for movement building
nationally and establishing international relationships with social
movements globally. Most recently GGJA member organizations played a key
role in organizing the United States Social Forum in Atlanta, GA
(www.ussf2007.org), and the local and regional processes that led to it.
The Political Coordinator for the alliance would play a leadership role,
working with member organizations in campaign coordination and
developing national and international relationships. The duties, skills,
and requirements of the position are listed below.

Political Coordinator Job Description
Job Duties
◊ Serving as overall coordinator for GGJ campaigns,
◊ Developing and maintaining national and international relations,
◊ Coordinate inter-organizational relationships among our members,
◊ Assisting respective GGJ organizations with the coordination of
projects and/or working committees and providing support to these groups
as needed;
◊ Leadership development through popular education,
◊ Representing GGJ in coalitions and at events and activities, as needed,
◊ Facilitating coordination, as relevant and appropriate, between GGJ
members and current or potential allies and/or supporters.
Skills and Experiences
◊ A minimum of 5 years’ experience with grassroots organizing and in
coordinating campaigns on a regional or national level,
◊ The ability to represent GGJ in a variety of settings and to
establish/maintain broad organizational relationships,
◊ Experience in developing political analysis and vision,
◊ Demonstrated ability to think strategically about organizational
development, program design and implementation,
◊ Coalition building experience,
◊ Facilitation skills,
◊ Diplomatic skills,
◊ Experience in multi-racial, multi-cultural settings,
◊ Willingness to travel – at least one week/month,
◊ Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a variety of projects
and activities simultaneously,
◊ Good research, writing and oral communication skills,
◊ Bilingual a plus,
◊ Editing skills a plus,
◊ Knowledge of common computer applications, such as word processing,
spreadsheets, e-mail programs, web, and Internet,
◊ Database management skills a plus,
◊ Fundraising experience a plus,
◊ Understanding of the vision, goals and history of GGJ is preferable,
◊ Location is flexible.
Salary Range
$45,000-$55,000 based on experience and availability of funds.
