Hello All Comm-orgers:
Here is an announcement about the Windcall Resident Program - a renewal
program for long-time social change organizers. (A short description of
the program follows this application deadline announcement.)
You may have heard that the original Montana location is now closed, due
to the retirement of the founders, but the good news is that we've found
another great location in the mountains of Vermont. A group of former
Windcall residents has formed a new organization to keep this fantastic
program going.
The Windcall Resident Program rewards grassroots community and labor
organizers (with at least 5 years experience) with a relaxing retreat
for rest, renewal and inspiration. Located on beautiful farmlands in
Vermont, Windcall provides all meals, private rooms and unstructured time.
In 2006, the program will be open in June and July for two week
sessions. *The application deadline is January 31, 2006*
You can information and application materials on the website:

Feel free to pass it on to any qualified organizers you know.
Please call me if you have more questions: 510-834-2995.
If you are seriously planning on applying, PLEASE let me know, so I can
look for your application! Thanks.

How do social and environmental change leaders working in the United
States sustain their vision, their inspiration, their resiliency and
balance in the face of relentless and seemingly insurmountable obstacles?
For the past 16 years, the Windcall Program in Montana has developed a
successful approach for supporting and sustaining social change leaders
- and the organizations these women and men create and build. Since
1989, Windcall has fostered the psychological, spiritual, emotional and
physical health of over 400 low-income social and environmental change
leaders by offering a reflective renewal experience in a beautiful rural
setting.
Significantly, the majority of people who have attended Windcall have
stayed in the social justice field, and hundreds of participants
reported that this unstructured time out was one of the most beneficial
programs they'd experienced in their professional and personal lives.
And, it had impact on their organizations and the movement as a whole.
While some residents were inspired to create new models of organizing or
even new organizations, others have found ways to change the culture of
the organizations in which they work.
