COMM-ORG will discard html-only newsletters

Hi COMM-ORG,
The COMM-ORG listserver is receiving an increasing number of e-mail
newsletters that are basically web pages on e-mail, and do not have an
alternative plain text format (I see them, you don't). Because most of
those messages are from servers to which COMM-ORG has been
auto-subscribed, I do not have the time to track down the editors to
request plain text versions of those newsletters. Consequently, if your
organization sends out newsletters that have an html-only format, they
will be automatically discarded. COMM-ORG sends out only plain text
e-mails. This is to preserve bandwidth and eliminate virus/worm risk.
This is especially important today as a new phishing message has been
released into the wild posing as a BBC message (see
http://www.websensesecuritylabs.com/alerts/alert.php?AlertID=452).
My thanks to PICO and NPA/NTIC for providing alternative plain text
formats for their newsletters.
The best way to protect your computer is to set your e-mail to filter
html content and images out of messages.
Thanks,
