Are you called to work for change?
Are you passionate about social justice and change? Are you motivated by the
empowerment of others? Are you curious about other cultures? Do you thrive
in multicultural, multiethnic and multi-faith environments? Do you enjoy
challenges and uphill battles? Are you devoted to the enlivening of
democracy by the participation of those usually left out? Are you strategic,
analytical, disciplined, hard working, self aware, more than a little angry
at the way things are, able to laugh, energetic, visionary, and pragmatic?
Are you interested in being a part of a growing national network of
professional community organizers?
If you answered yes to all of these questions, the San Diego Organizing
Project (SDOP) invites you to apply to participate in a two-week discernment
process to explore a career in community organizing. During the discernment
process, participants will work closely with grassroots leaders, under the
supervision of SDOP staff, to determine whether community organizing is
their career path. Qualified candidates will be eligible for two community
organizer positions in San Diego and additional qualified candidates will be
referred to 50 PICO projects across the country.
When: April 30-May 14, 2005
Where: San Diego, CA
