Please join us for a wonderful event --   the Occidental College Urban & 
Environmental Policy Institute's 6th Annual "Building Communities From 
the Ground Up" gathering and awards ceremony  -- on Friday, April 15, at 
4:30 pm.  Assemblywoman Karen Bass, longtime community organizer, will 
be our keynote speaker.  Rev. Altagracia Perez (leader of the successful 
anti-WalMart campaign in Inglewood),  Oxy alums Dennis Zane (planner and 
housing activist) and Rex Wyler (from Greenpeace), and James Rojas 
(Latino Urban Forum) will receive awards for community activism.   There 
will be lots of opportunities for  community activists, faculty and 
students come together, network, and have a good time. Music, food, 
great people to be awarded. The event begins at 4:30pm at the  park 
below UEPI   (1882 Campus Road in Eagle Rock at the edge of the
