[ed: Thanks to Bob and Mark for replying to Sandy's message, and
apologies for not thinking about their papers. I guess I was on the flip
side of Sandy's query.]

From: Robert Bothwell <bob at bobbothwell.org>

Dear John, Sandy, Jane and Jean: One source I would encourage you to
review is Grassroots Associations by David Horton Smith, Sage
Publications, Thousand Oaks, CA, 2000. David is a leading academic
authority on grassroots groups. Another source is my study of
"Foundation Funding of Grassroots Organizations," available on
http://comm-org.utoledo.edu/papers2001/bothwell.htm . I would love to
see your study when it is done. Best wishes, Bob Bothwell

From: "Mark R. Warren" <warrenma at gse.harvard.edu>

Dear John and Sandy,

Richard Wood and I did a report sponsored by Interfaith Funders which
includes data on the revenue sources of faith-based community
organizing groups. It's available as a 2001 COMM-ORG working paper
on the website, entitled "Faith-Based Community Organizing: The State
of the Field."

Best wishes,
Mark Warren
