Hi COMM-ORG. Thanks to those of you who participated in the 2003
evaluation of COMM-ORG. And thanks to Anne Shepherd, a student
from my spring 2003 Community Organizing class, for conducting the
evaluation.
If you would like to view the results, you can find them at:
http://comm-org.utoledo.edu/eval03/03eval.htm
The response rate was pretty small (65 of 850), but the people who
responded look a lot like COMM-ORG looks (about half academics and
half practitioners and others, and mostly but not completely from the
U.S.)
In contrast to past years, there seems to be a growing interest in
discussing issues on the list, which I think is great. I encourage people
to engage in those discussions. So if there is a community organizing
or related issue you would like to start a discussion on, please do so.
There also seemed to be more support than in the past for moving to a
somewhat more formal papers collection. But people cautioned that
should be done only if it doesn't compromise the quality of the papers.
This may be worth discussing at more length to see how much interest
there is for this and how to make sure it produces a publication that
people want to read.
