Internship Announcement:
Research Assistant

An internship for those with a strong interest in international 
conservation and community development  

Use your research and writing skills to assist Future Generations, 
an international nongovernmental organization working with 
communities in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, two states 
in India, nation-wide in Peru, and in the Central Hazarajat Region 
of Afghanistan. To complement these field programs, Future 
Generations is also initiating a Master's Degree in Applied 
Conservation and Community Development.  

To support these growing programs, Future Generations seeks an 
intern to assist office staff with research and writing for a minimum 
of one-year. Responsibilities will include collaboration with the 
fundraising team and country directors to develop well-researched 
and well-written reports and grant proposals. Other research and 
writing projects connected with general program development may 
also be required. This is an opportunity to be integrally involved in 
the development of an international nonprofit implementing best 
practice in the field of conservation and community development.  

Qualifications for this position include:


-bachelor's degree
- exceptional research skills
-exceptional verbal and written communication skills
-ability to do unsupervised research and writing
-ability to collaborate with multiple staff on short and long-term 
projects

This full-time position will be based at Future Generations' 
headquarters in Franklin, West Virginia, which is approximately 
three hours from Washington, DC. This position begins in early 
June, 2003, with a one-year contract. Periodic international travel 
may also be a benefit.   

Starting salary is at the internship level with free housing. This 
position also includes health care benefits. This position will be 
filled as soon as a suitable applicant has been found. Electronic
