Online Projects Coordinator

Location: US, preferably New England telecommuting, potential
relocation

The Online Projects Coordinator position may require some travel 
within the US. Trips to Project Harmony's home office in Vermont 
are envisioned for orientation, project closure, and potentially for 
planning for future projects. Travel to participant schools 
throughout the US may be necessary. Fluency in foreign language 
is not required - excellent written communication is required.  

SUMMARY OF SCHOOL CONNECTIVITY PROGRAMS: 

Project Harmony School Connectivity Programs establish Internet 
computer centers in schools throughout Armenia and Azerbaijan. 
These programs enhance civic education through online 
collaborative projects with partner schools in the US and 
elsewhere. Intensive, hands-on train-the-trainers programs further 
develop the skills of educators to leverage online technology to 
build civic education components into local school curricula.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       University degree, preferably in Education
·       Experience in Internet communications technology and
successful implementation of online projects
·       Cultural sensitivity and interest in Armenian and Azeri
current affairs and educational system
·       Excellent written communication skills
·       Ability to mentor and motivate online participants, including
educational professionals and students
·       Flexibility, and willingness to adjust to a demanding work
schedulewith minimal supervision

SHORT TERM RESPONSIBILITIES: FEB 15, 2003-MAY 15, 2003
·       Collaborate with Vermont-based Program Coordinator
·       Conduct recruitment and orientation efforts for US schools
·       Assume lead responsibility for current online program series,
including communication with educators and students, and program 
staff in the  US, Armenia and Azerbaijan
·       Moderate 3 online chats (approximately 10 hours of
facilitation per chat is required)
·       Foster a community environment and nurture future partner
relationships among multi-national participants
·       Provide program evaluation data and written program reports

POSITION MAY BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE THESE 
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Develop educational content appropriate to national 
curriculum and context
·       Promote the School Connectivity Programs and Project 
Harmony
·       Provide overall leadership of online project design,
implementation, reporting and evaluation
·       Research opportunities for new/continuing program 
development for School Connectivity Program online collaborative 
projects
·       Evaluate online projects for both qualitative and quantitative
results
