companeros - not long ago i heard that folks in LA were denied the
right to march in protest of US plans to wage war on
Afghanistan...that the LAPD blocked access to public spaces, and
barred any display of the flag or protest signs--does anyone have a
connection to this story? is this accurate? what's been happening in
the Bay Area and D.C.? have local cops begun using "homeland
security" as a justification for escalating surveillance and
harassment of progressive organizations in general -- those in
communities of color is particular? i'm researching a piece on the
chilling effects of the USA PATRIOT Act on grassroots
organizations, associations and coalitions and could use some
leads... please e-mail (maceo at tsne.org), or call me toll-free
