IN THE TWO MINUTES THAT IT TAKES YOU TO READ THIS LETTER 10 WOMEN WILL BE

The federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which has provided programs, 
laws, and billions of dollars in funding for domestic violence shelters and 
other services to end domestic violence, WILL EXPIRE October 1, 2000 unless 
Congress acts soon.

Congress has been discussing reauthorization of VAWA for over a year, 
during which time more than 3 million women have been severely abused, and 
over 1,000 children have died from family violence. There is no more time 
to waste! There are fewer than 30 working days left in this congressional 
session!!

Tell Congress they must ACT NOW to reauthorize VAWA, and to provide maximal 
funding for its programs:

Congress.

IT'S FAST: It will take less than 2 minutes to send the letter- that's 10 
more women beaten? Can you think of a better use for your time?

IT'S EASY: You don't need to know who your congressional reps are. Enter 
your zip-code and they'll be identified for you. There is a pre-written 
letter at the site that urges Congress to act on VAWA priorities identified 
by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence; NOW Legal Defense and 
Education Fund; the National Network to End Domestic Violence and others. 
Just follow the instructions at the site to send the letter.

PLEASE DO THIS NOW; BY SEPTEMBER 28, IT WILL BE TOO LATE!!
