JOB ANNOUNCEMENT--ORGANIZER

HOTEL EMPLOYEES AND RESTAURANT EMPLOYEES UNION
HERE, one of the most active unions committed to organizing, is currently
recruiting full-time experienced and entry level organizers to participate
and help direct campaigns to win justice and better treatment for low wage,
largely immigrant hotel, food service and gaming workers.  HERE Locals have
been in the forefront of living wage and right to organize campaigns in many
cities.  HERE has helped lead the fight for justice for immigrant workers.

UNION ORGANIZER POSITIONS are currently available in the San Francisco Bay
area and Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; New York City; Boston; Baltimore;
Chicago; Madison and Milwaukee, WI; New Haven and Eastern Connecticut;
Minnesota; Orlando and Miami, Florida.  New positions open regularly in
cities throughout North America..
Responsibilities:
·   Identify, recruit, train and develop workplace leaders of the Union.
·   Housevisit workers.
·   Conduct committee meetings and leadership trainings.
·   Train workers to hold employers and elected officials accountable.

INTERFAITH ORGANIZER positions are available in Palm Springs and Oakland, CA.
Responsibilities:
·   Build ties between labor movement and faith community.
·   Recruit clergy and lay leaders to participate in programs and events in
support of worker justice.

Qualifications:
·   Demonstrated commitment to labor/social justice organizing
·   Proven ability to develop leadership and move people to action
·   Willingness and ability to work long, hard and varied hours
·   Excellent communication skills.  Bilingual skills in Spanish or Asian
languages highly desirable for some locations
·   Valid drivers license, car and car insurance

Salary and benefits:
For most positions, and all on International Union payroll, the starting 
day 1 salary
is $23,400, higher in New York. Lead organizers start at $40,000. Excellent 
benefit package includes
medical, dental, sick leave, vacation and pension.
