FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SOCIAL ECOLOGY TO DONATE 100,000 SHARES OF ITS PRE-IPO STOCK TO NONPROFITS

Goal is Strengthened Nonprofit Infrastructure

SEATTLE, WA -- September 20, 2000 Social Ecology, a Seattle-based
information technology company for the nonprofit sector, announced today it
will donate 100,000 shares of its pre-IPO stock to ten or more nonprofit
organizations. The program's guidelines focus on nonprofits that play a
significant role in strengthening the infrastructure of the sector as a whole.

Michael Gilbert, founder and CEO of Social Ecology, said "We realize that
the success of our company will depend on a strong and growing nonprofit
sector. We want to recognize, and contribute to, some of the nonprofit
organizations that work to ensure that every community benefits from
effective nonprofits."

"This initiative extends Social Ecology's corporate engagement with the
work of the nonprofit sector as a whole," said Drummond Pike, president of
the Tides Foundation in San Francisco. Customer support personnel and
other key employees of the company have deep roots in nonprofit work, the
company develops products with nonprofit organizations as partners and
co-owners, and it counts foundations making program-related investments
among its pre-IPO investors.

A single-page application form is posted on Social Ecology's website at
http://www.socialecology.com/stockgift/appn.html and circulated online to
many potential applicants. Further information about the program is also
available at the company's website.

Founded in May 1999, Social Ecology offers online software products that
meet critical needs of nonprofit organizations. Examples include DonorLink
IT, a relationship-management tool for staying in touch with donors and
other supporters; InWeb IT, a knowledge-management too for providing
consistent information to employees, board members and other stakeholders;
and OrgMail IT, an enterprise-wide integrated email management tool. A
staff of experienced software engineers and management personnel with
strong ties to the nonprofit sector works from its offices in Seattle's
Capital Hill neighborhood.
