I've been appointed to a task force by the Los Angeles United Way to
recommend new funding priorities and standards. I want to push for the U.W.
to fund more grassroots advocacy and organizing groups. I'd appreciate
getting information about two things: (1) Examples of other United Ways
that fund grassroots advocacy/organizing groups; and (2) Examples of how
these United Ways develop criteria to select and evaluate these groups,
which are more difficult to evaluate than traditional groups that the U.W.
typically funds, like the Red Cross, food pantries, and the Visiting Nurses
Assn. Thanks.
