Executive Director
Background:
C-BEYOND is a powerful, progressive youth organizing project in the
low-income suburbs of the Bay Area, California. Only three years old,
C-Beyond has quickly grown to develop a reputation as a leader in the field
of youth organizing. Our mission directs us to work in low-income outlying
areas that traditionally have little or no organized activism, particularly
around issues of racism, sexism, homophobia and economic oppression. With
our strong commitment to youth development, we are looking for a youthful
director who can build up our current youth staff and membership to take
over the organization and build new chapters across the state.
Position Summary:
The Executive Director is responsible for setting the direction for the
organization through communication with the board, staff and membership.
S/he must be skilled at helpful supervision, long-term planning and
fundraising in particular. Our work demands that the Director be accessible=
,
politically motivated and open to joint leadership with the rest of the
staff and members.
Primary Responsibilities:
External Relations & Building Alliances
* promote organizational vision and political agenda in various
external activities
* maintain and expand relationships with organizations in the state
dedicated to common agenda
* maintain continued relationships with funders, program officers, and
individual philanthropists.
Financial Management & Development
* write grant proposals and oversee writing of reports and letters of inten=
t
* represent C-Beyond in fundraising meetings with institutional and
individual donors
* oversee and create efficient operations and financial management
systems
Staff Management & Development
* supervise our Lead Organizers and Administrative staff
* develop workplans and priorities with staff, including staff
development programs
* conduct timely evaluations of staff and projects
* work with staff to identify emerging organizing opportunities and program
priorities
* lead regular assessments of C-Beyond's role in advancing its mission to
make change in its communities
Preferences for Candidates:
=85 solid history in progressive organizing and activism
=85 experience in youth work
=85 grasp on large grant fundraising
=85 excellent writing skills
=85 1-2 years experience in non-profit management position
=85 dedication to revolutionary social change
Salary: Negotiable based on experience. Not more than $30,000
