NCRC Alert: Senate Passes Deform, House Vote to Follow

Re: Financial Deform Vote

At around 3:30 p.m. this afternoon, the Senate voted on final passage of the
Conference Report to accompany S. 900, the Financial Services Modernization
Act of 1999. The bill passed, with the final tally of 90-8, with 1 Senator
(Fitzgerald, R-IL) voting present, and Sen. McCain (R-AZ) absent from the
vote.

Those Senators voting against the bill were: Boxer (D-CA), Feingold (D-WI),
Mikulski (D-MD), Bryan (D-NV), Dorgan (D-ND), Wellstone (D-MN), Harkin (D-IA),
and Shelby (D-AL).

Latest word is that the House is expected to take up the bill this evening,
with one hour of debate, and then a vote on final passage. We'll let you know
the outcome as soon as we have it...
