California State University-Dominguez Hills. The Department of Sociology invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor position. The successful candidate will have expertise in Community Studies and Service Learning and will be expected to develop community studies courses, student research opportunities and internships. In addition, candidates should be interested in serving as a leader in the Department as it develops its new mission of "sociology in service to the community." Substantive areas of research are open, although priority will be given to scholars whose work relates to the diverse communities of the greater Los Angeles area. Candidates must have an earned doctorate by date of appointment, and demonstrated experience in building community connections and teaching community-based, applied or participatory research is required. Bilingual scholars are welcomed. The Sociology Department at CSUDH is a growing department that emphasizes the diversity of social experience in both the U.S. and the global context and is committed to collaborating with community organizations and civic groups to help address complex and diverse social issues. Interested parties must submit a letter of interest, a current Curriculum Vita, evidence of teaching effectiveness and community research, two (2) writing samples and three (3) recent letters of recommendation to: Fumiko Hosokawa, Chair, Department of Sociology, California State University, Dominguez Hills, 1000 East Victoria Street, Carson, CA 90747. Anticipated start for this academic-year position is in late August 2005 with the beginning of the 2005-2006 academic year.
