FYI: If anyone is interested in the Urban section, I know the Urban chair and
may be able to help your panel/paper proposal.

The Social Science History Association will hold its 28th Annual Meeting,
November 13-16, 2003, at the Wyndham-Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotel in
Baltimore, Maryland. The SSHA is the leading interdisciplinary association for
historical research in the U's. and its members share a common concern for
interdisciplinary approaches to historical problems. The organization's
long-standing interest in methodology also makes SSHA meetings exciting places
to explore new solutions to historical problems. We encourage the
participation of graduate students and recent Ph.D's, as well as
more-established scholars, from a wide range of disciplines and departments.

As in the past, panel proposals will be handled electronically. If you wish to
submit a paper, panel or poster for the 2003 SSHA conference, the submission
deadline is Saturday, March 1, 2003 . The SSHA program is developed through
networks of people interested in particular topics. If you are not certain
about a network, ask the representatives of the networks closest to your
interests, or ask the program co-chairs.

Contributors should take note of the following SSHA rules and traditions:

   1. Session participants should represent more than one discipline or
institution.
   2. Panels that include material from more than one place or time are
particularly welcome.
   3. To maximize the number of participants, individuals may present no more
than one paper and participate in no more than two sessions.
   4. Panels co-sponsored by two or more networks are encouraged.

Also, please remember that all panel submissions must include complete
information on participants, including their affiliations, phone numbers, and
e-mail addresses.

The submission deadline is Saturday, March 1, 2003.

Notification of acceptance or rejection of proposals will occur by May 1,
2003, or soon thereafter. All accepted participants on the 2003 SSHA Program
will be required to pre-register for the conference, and to join SSHA (if not
already members.)

For more information, contact 2003 Program Committee Co-Chairs Elizabeth Faue
and John Murray.
