I hope you will bring the National Gathering for Social
Entrepreneurs
<http://www.nationalgathering.org/>http://www.nationalgatherin
g. org/ to the attention of your members. The Third National
Gathering is in Seattle September 12-15, 2001. This is our
third annual conference designed to help entrepreneurial
nonprofits generate more revenue, create strategic alliances
with the forprofit world, and build their capacities and
sustainability.

The National Gathering helps nonprofits by:

1. Organizing and enabling current and future social
entrepreneurs to learn from each other. We have a great
conference program and speakers.

2. Collecting and disseminating best practices.

3. Being a spokesperson for the development of legal and
other issues that support social entrepreneurship.

4. Linking to and developing resources to further the field.

We have a training track for budding entrepreneurial
organizations. We also have workshops on starting a
business, innovative ways of accessing capital, venture
philanthropy, outcome measurement, faithbased groups,
youth ventures, strategic alliances with the business
community etc. Keynoters include the CEO of Timberland,
CEO of the Independent Sector, COO of the National Urban
League, Paul Brainerd of the Brainerd Foundation and etc.
Also reps from Ben & Jerry and Magic Johnson Foundation.
And we provide a great networking opportunity, we expect
300+ attendees from US and international organizations.

For the first time we have a FAITH BASED GROUPS PANEL
featuring Ken Wagner, Enterprise Director of Emerald City
Outreach Ministries, John Camerer of Vision House, and John
Nelson of the National Congress for Community Economic
Development. Our ARTS PANEL includes such speakers as:
David Dowler, Artistic Director, Z-Space, (San Francisco
theatre studio and regional producer); Koryn Rolstad,
Developer, Banner Building, (Seattle arts-live-work bldg.);

trains at-risk kids to paint murals ) and Bartlett Sher, Artistic
Director, Intiman Theatre, Seattle.

includes a Newcomers Institute on September 12. See the
