Hello ARNOVA:
I thought some of you might be interested in this new international listserv. There are a growing number of listservs on "nonprofit capital"/"community capital" issues -- this is the latest. best, Maryellen Lewis. ***************************************** NEW SOCIAL BANKING LIST
The list has three main objectives:
Firstly, to facilitate discussion and communication around upscaling social banking, community development finance and financing the social economy
Secondly, to do this in a European context. As you will know, most of the lists on social banking issues are based in the US and have a strong US focus. We do, of course, welcome US and other Third Countries to advise us in our efforts.
Thirdly, to launch specific topics over the coming months on the barriers to social investment finance.
Proposed topics range from the practical to the policy level, on: - legal barriers to social investment - bank transparency - towards a European community reinvestment act - developing partnerships with mainstream banks and corporations - back office systems and new technologies - local development organisations and social investment - social economy finance and a new welfare model
Current participants are from the social banking field, community development, mainstream banks and academics. Languages mostly understood on the list are English and French.
