1998 CAMPUS OUTREACH OPPORTUNITY LEAGUE (COOL) NORTHEAST REGIONAL MEETING

The Campus Outreach Opportunity League will be holding its 1998 Northeast Regional Meeting at Cornell University November 6-8. Register now to take advantage of this unique opportunity!

Founded in 1984, the Campus Outreach Opportunity League (COOL) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the education and empowerment of college students to strengthen our nation through community service. We aim to mobilize and connect students of all backgrounds to lead a movement that increases participation in our communities, promotes activism, and fosters the civic and social responsibility necessary to build a just society.

The Northeast Regional Meeting will focus on network building and leadership skill development. Participants will attend workshops and participate in discussions that will provide them with skills, knowledge and insight into programs and issues that relate to service in the Northeast.

To build the personal connections that make a strong network, students will meet in small groups to discuss the opportunities and problems they face daily while planning service projects and events. Participants will get to know other student who deal with similar issues. They will share ideas, brainstorm solutions, and build connections with each other that will last long past the meeting weekend.

Workshops will highlight new techniques as well as leadership and organizational skills. Participants will learn from each other as they discuss challenges and solutions in small groups. This weekend will build a network of students in the Northeast who can be a resource to each other while increasing their knowledge so they can improve and strengthen their own campus based program.

Participants will be going Into the Streets, on Friday. This one day service project will be based on COOL's highly successful national program of the same name. Participants will be teamed with local community organizations to perform direct service in Ithaca.

Registration for the COOL Northeast Regional Meeting is $90 for students and $140 for non-students.
