The Center for Social Inclusion (CSI) believes that structural
transformation depends
on leaders of color working effectively and collectively from the local
to the national
level. We've played a role by supporting and engaging leaders through
our Alston
Bannerman Fellowships and also through the trainings and strategy
convenings we
develop and conduct.
Now, in our 10th anniversary year, we are taking a closer look at how to
make our
work with leaders even more supportive, strategic, and sustainable.
Community organizations, elected officials and funders are increasingly
turning
to CSI for sessions on structural racism analysis and how to use it to
develop strategies
for change. Participants are also responding enthusiastically to our
trainings
and convenings on how to communicate well about race and are asking for
more.
We're constantly learning from our work with leaders on the ground and
we want to
ensure that CSI is playing the most constructive role it can. We
anticipate that
this will mean some changes to our fellowship programs, and we look
forward to sharing
our plans for 2013 and beyond.
In the meantime, we'd appreciate your help recruiting another
outstanding class
of Alston Bannerman sabbatical fellows.

If you're eligible, consider applying. Encourage organizers of color
you know would
benefit from an opportunity for reflection and regeneration to apply.
And spread
the word through your networks.
Please note that this year's deadline to apply is June 15.
We thank you for your support as we continue to find "solutions that
work for everyone."
Regards,
Maya Wiley
