*The Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center (PCRC), a non-profit 
organization that provides a wide range of conflict resolution, 
communication and community building services throughout San Mateo 
County, is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) Coordinator of our 
Family Mediation Program.

This position requires fluent bilingual (Spanish) skills. Working under 
the supervision of the Manager of Mediation Programs, the Coordinator 
oversees the delivery of mediation services for cases involving a range 
of family-related issues including dependency, child visitation and 
parent/teen disputes. The Coordinator is also responsible for managing 
mediation cases involving Spanish-speaking clients and other mediation 
cases, as needed. In addition, the Coordinator assists with volunteer 
recruitment and training as well as mediation program promotion. The 
Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative 
working relationships with various agencies and sources of family 
referrals, for overseeing the quality of program services and assisting 
with compiling service reports. The Coordinator is a key contributing 
member of the Mediation Team.


*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

*The primary responsibilities of this position include:
*1. Providing intake, case development and case management for 
individuals and families referred to or exploring the use of PCRC 
mediation services. (Referrals come from the Human Services Agency, 
Children and Family Services, the Department of Child Support Services, 
law enforcement agencies, other public and private entities and parties 
themselves.)
2. Assigning trained volunteer mediators to perform case development 
when appropriate and to mediate cases. This requires matching the 
mediator’s level of training, experience and skill with that of their 
co-mediators and the case situation.
3. Working with the Manager of Mediation Programs and the Director of 
the Superior Court’s Juvenile Mediation Program to ensure that the 
volunteer mediators working in these specialized programs are trained 
and supported so they can deliver a high quality of mediation
4. Implementing a volunteer recruitment strategy to increase the size 
and diversity of the volunteer pool
5. Maintaining timely, accurate information in the case management 
database and preparing timely and accurate reports based on case data
6. Working with PCRC’s Manager of Mediation to monitor and maintain 
program quality
7. Working with the Director of the Superior Court’s Juvenile Mediation 
Program to ensure consistent, quality mediation services and to refine 
existing program procedures and policies
8. Actively contributing to PCRC’s Mediation Team efforts.
9. Developing and maintaining contacts with referral sources and 
initiating new contacts to ensure a growing number of cases for each 
program



*QUALIFICATIONS
*_Minimum Requirements_
Skill and successful experience working with families in conflict.
Understanding of the concept of and philosophy behind mediation.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in both English and 
Spanish.
Experience and skill working with people from diverse backgrounds and 
cultures.
Proven organizational and administrative ability.
Knowledge and skill with computer word-processing, data base management 
and simple desktop publishing.

_Preferred skills/experience_:
Hands-on training in mediation, conflict resolution, or facilitation.
Successful experience working independently and as part of a team.
3-5 years experience working with families in a community-based or 
social service agency.

The person in this position must possess a valid CA driver's license and 
maintain a minimum $100,000/$300,000 in personal automobile insurance to 
accommodate occasional fieldwork.

This position is housed in PCRC's main office in the city of San Mateo. 
Regular working hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. In 
addition to these hours, there are occasions when the Coordinator of 
Family Mediation Program works in the evenings or on weekends and 
receives compensation time off during regular hours.

*Compensation
*This is an exempt position offering a competitive salary and a 
compensation package that includes medical, dental, life insurance, 
403(B) plan, vacation, and holidays. Beginning salary range: 
$40,000-$44,000/year depending on skills and experience.
