WHO WE ARE
The Nashville Peace and Justice Center (NPJC) is a community based 
coalition of organizations and individuals working to promote equity and 
to create a peaceful, just, and sustainable society through reflection, 
education, and non-violent action.
 
Salary: Range from $27,500 - $30,000 plus Benefits

DESCRIPTION
After 3 years of substantial growth, NPJC is looking for a new 
coordinator to strengthen the NPJC from the inside-out. The NPJC 
Coordinator is a community organizer at heart with the experience and 
patience for maintaining budgets, fund development, board development, 
and staff coordination, along with a willingness to roll up her 
sleeves.  In addition to supporting the campaigns of NPJC Member 
Organizations, the Coordinator will organize with activists up to two 
other campaigns, as determined by the Board and in collaboration with 
organizations across the state.  Specific roles include, with 
corresponding estimates for time spent on each:
 
Staff and Volunteer Staff Coordination                       15%
* Coordination of Director of Education (DE), Grassroots Coordinator 
(GC), and any other staff.
* General oversight of all formalized volunteers in collaboration with 
GC, including tech support, newsletter
    and website, finances, and other volunteer positions.
 
Community Organizing                                               40%
*Organize on specific issue-based campaigns.
*A current justice issue is Health Care with a focus on the state 
Medicaid program, TennCare.
*A current peace issue is mobilizing Middle Tennessee to end the US War 
and Occupation of Iraq.
 
Dismantling Oppression with Focus on Racism        10%
*Organize and facilitate trainings and fully participate in process of 
internal NPJC Dismantling Racism.
*Contribute to Dismantling Racism & Oppression programming in the larger 
community.
 
Board 
Support                                                                        
10%
*Work closely with NPJC Board and Committees. 
*Co-facilitate strategic planning process, dismantling racism work, and 
committee actions.
*Track and develop finance reports with Finance Committee
 
Fundraising                                                                 
15%
*Write grants and fulfill reporting requirements.
*Plan and promote annual grassroots fundraising through membership, 
concerts, and congregations.
 
Finance and Office Administration                             10%
*Oversee financial obligations of Center and facilities upkeep.
*Ensure integrity of Center data and documents.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
2+ years community organizing experience;
2+ years coordinating multiple staff and volunteers, organizational and 
board development;
2+ years experience in grant writing and/or grassroots fundraising;
1+ years experience working in community and/or organizational process 
to dismantle oppression;
Strong connection to African-American communities;
Experience working within new immigrant communities;
Fluency in English required, a working knowledge of Spanish is a plus; and
Proficiency in File Maker (or equivalent database), Microsoft Office, 
and Internet search engines.
