The Chicago-based National Training and Information Center is 
looking to hire a full-time Communications Director.  The 
Communications Director should be ready to work in a dynamic 
organization that works with local community organizations and a 
national coalition to build power for neighborhood residents and 
community organizations across the country.  The Communications 
Director should have at least two-years experience in journalism or 
in the non-profit world.   The Communications Director should be 
able to work under pressure and deadlines as well as contribute to 
the growth of a powerful national organization.  The 
Communications Director will also be responsible for the creation 
and management of a communications team to support NTIC and 
its national Coalition, National People's Action.  



Duties of the Communications Director include:  

a.. Edit and layout of bimonthly newsletter Disclosure - The 
national newspaper of the neighborhoods (www.disclosure-us.org) 
and NTIC Reports - a quarterly newsletter to foundations and 
partners b.. Update and oversee management of three websites c.. 
Working with national and local organizers on strategic media 
development d.. Coordinate and implement media strategy and 
publicity for the National Training and Information Center and the 
national coalition National People's Action including: a.. Write press 
releases, media advisories and op-eds b.. Maintaining media lists 
and active ongoing communication with reporters, editors and 
producers e.. Help coordinate national events, including NTIC's 
national neighborhoods conference f.. Provide training and 
technical assistance for local organizations around media g.. 
Working with outside consultants h.. Preparing grant proposals
