Minnesota Senior Federation - Metro Region
Issues Organizer

Founded in 1973, the Minnesota Senior Federation - Metro 
Region's mission is to empower seniors in the seven-county metro 
area to meet their own and community needs and concerns.  The 
MnSF is the oldest and largest grassroots advocacy organization 
for senior citizens in the state of Minnesota.   

The Issues Organizer will work with senior members on health care 
issues, affordable housing, and other issues affecting older adults 
in the Twin Cities Metro Area.  

·	Work with senior leaders to develop strategies for 
progressive policy change at local, state, and federal levels 
·	Assist leaders in planning issue forums, accountability 
sessions with elected representatives, and workshops/educational 
events related to senior issues 
·	Organize tenant councils in subsidized senior buildings that 
are threatened with conversion to market rates, and work with 
residents to keep their homes affordable 
·	Provide administrative/staff support for various member 
·	Develop written action alerts, policy briefs, news articles, 
press releases 
·	Recruit new leaders and work to develop skills of existing 
·	Expand the MnSF's capacity to mobilize its members for 
action on local, state, and federal issues  

·	Professional organizing or advocacy/public policy 
experience (2-3 years preferred)
·	Familiarity with state and federal legislative process
·	Excellent writing and speaking skills
·	Commitment to social justice

Preferred Qualifications: 
·	Knowledge of senior, housing, or health care issues
·	Experience working with senior citizens

Salary Range & Benefits: $23,500 to $26,000 based on experience, 
plus benefits.
