Welcome to COMM-ORG

COMM-ORG was an effort to bring together theory and practice, and academics and organizers, to advance the craft of community organizing. By 2013 it had become clear that social media, rather than websites and email lists, would be the dominant medium. So this site exists as an archive of the past. I try to maintain links as I am able.

COMM-ORG News

6-5-2015:  The COMM-ORG discussion list, which no longer fulfilled its mission of supporting discussion that could advance the craft of community organizing, ended.  You can still access old list messages using the link on the left side of the screen.

1-1-2015: You may have noticed that things have changed a bit.  I got rid of the content management system software--too full of security holes, too much of a pain in the butt to constantly upgrade, and too much overkill for what I am doing.  All the paper and syllabi links will remain the same, but the links to the other site pages will all change.  Sorry about that.

12-31-2014:  The last of the 2014 COMM-ORG papers is now posted.  Mark Warren contributed "Transforming Public Education: The Need for an Educational Justice Movement," showing the need for educational reform organizing, and the potential for it.  You can access it from the COMM-ORG papers papers page.
